Grains of hope

It may be difficult to imagine how people are coping with COVID-19 in other parts of the world when the pandemic may have uprooted our own lives. However, God does not stop working amid worldwide illness; God’s purpose and work continue to move through the hearts and hands of His people.

The Cambodian Baptist Union (CBU) is a Texas Baptist Hunger Offering ministry partner that provides relief for families experiencing hunger in Cambodia. Families within the church and outside the church are given two weeks’ worth of rice, canned fish, seasonings and the message of hope in Christ.

Although COVID-19 cases are low in Cambodia, the tourism and garment industries have suffered. Lauren Bass shares that “approximately 50% of garment factories are now closed with more closures on the horizon.”

With supply and demand chains plummeting, the Cambodian economy is experiencing a crisis which has left Cambodians hungry for food and hope. The CBU has stepped up to meet this need by increasing rice distributions as much as possible. Despite the prohibition for religious gatherings due to COVID-19, the rice distribution has allowed the CBU to continue to share Christ’s hope with those they serve.

Please consider partnering with the CBU in prayer;

  • That the needs of hungry families across Cambodia would be met.
  • That families would have their stomachs and their hearts filled.
  • That the rice that is distributed to families would multiply and stretch in miraculous ways for the families that receive it.
  • For the leaders of the Cambodia Baptist Union as they organize these distributions and travel all over the country spreading hope.
