The Texas Baptist Hunger Offering unites the body of Christ to end hunger and poverty and promote holistic transformation. The 5th Sunday Hunger Offering is a special offering that occurs 4-5 times a year in churches across the state.
There are 795 million people who are malnourished in the world today (State of Food Insecurity in the World, 2015). As the body of Christ, we are charged with the mandate to serve and empower those in need. The 5th Sunday Hunger Offering gives churches the opportunity to regularly engage with anti-poverty efforts through gifts and prayers.
When is it?
5th Sunday Hunger Offerings are received on the last Sunday of every month that has five Sundays.
The 5th Sunday Hunger Offerings for the rest of 2017 are:
April 30 // July 30 // October 29 // December 31
How it works?
On every 5th Sunday, churches gather together and take a special offering during worship to fight hunger and serve their brothers and sisters in Texas and across the world. The church then sends the proceeds designated to the “Texas Baptist Hunger Offering”:
